Schools may enter multiple divisions if the schedule allows

How to Register:

A per-student registration fee covers accreditation, event shirt, lanyard, administration and insurance share

Division quotas apply; entries close once a category is full (waitlist may operate)

Repertoire freedom:

Covers and originals are welcome

Set lists required:

Schools must submit accurate set lists (titles/composers/arrangers) for royalty reporting

Public-performance licensing:

The event holds a SAMRO licence covering public performance; set-list reporting is compulsory under SAMRO’s music-user framework. Originals remain the creators’ property

Arrangements:

If you perform a custom arrangement of a copyrighted work, ensure you have rights to perform it (publisher permission where applicable)

Appropriateness:

Lyrics and themes must be suitable for a school audience

Media, Photos & Privacy (POPIA)

Because participants are minors, schools must obtain opt-in parent/guardian consent for images and any personal information used for event communications.

We align our forms with Department of Basic Education guidance on lawful, reasonable and minimal processing under POPIA.
