Our Passion for Music
Amplify is a national interschool music tournament based in Cape Town. We unite high-school bands, jazz ensembles, choirs, and, where schools choose, student sound & lighting crews, for a professionally produced, two-day showcase and competition. Our aim is simple: celebrate youth artistry, build real-world performance and production skills, and deepen connections between schools, families, and the wider arts community. Looking ahead, our 2027 edition is planned to include a full week of workshops, campus visits, mentorship sessions, and rehearsals leading into the Friday/Saturday tournament.

Why we care
Because music isn’t just performance, it’s powerful learning. Robust reviews and meta-analyses link sustained music participation with gains in social-emotional skills (confidence, teamwork, empathy) and engagement, alongside benefits that can spill over into academic motivation and persistence. South Africa’s own CAPS framework recognises Creative Arts (including music) as foundational in the school years, and global evidence from organisations like the OECD and UNESCO underscores how arts learning builds creativity, collaboration and well-being. Amplify exists to turn that evidence into lived experience, giving learners real stages, real feedback and a real community that helps them grow as artists and as people

Participant Safety
Our team of industry professionals, including Event Managers, Production Managers, Event Safety Officers and Programme Managers run a tight, compliant production, with permits, safety, medical, waste and traffic planning in place, working within the city’s event guidelines and permit process. This lets participating schools focus on preparing the best performances while we handle the professional backbone of the show.
